Where Oppsight’s information comes from, how we keep it current, and what we will never collect.
Public sources, clearly labelled
Oppsight is built from government registries, municipal licences and open map data released for reuse under open licences. We check each source's licence before we use it, and we credit every source on the facts it provides.
We don't copy other companies' databases, and we don't scrape sites that forbid it.
Federal
- Corporations Canada: federal corporations
- Canada Revenue Agency: registered charities and their directors
- ISED: Canadian Importers Database and radio licence holders
- ESDC: employers approved to hire through the LMIA program

The source on every fact
Each phone number, address and name shows which source it came from and when it was last seen. When two sources disagree, Oppsight shows both.
Kept current
Sources are refreshed on their own schedules, from live registry checks to monthly and yearly releases. Facts that haven't been seen recently are marked as older so you know to confirm them.
Corrections from real users
Users can confirm, correct or flag any fact. Corrections are checked before others see them, and anyone who knowingly submits false information three times loses the ability to contribute.
Searches that fill gaps
When a search comes up short, it's logged so the missing businesses can be found and added where people actually look.
What we will never collect
Oppsight is about businesses and people in their work roles. We do not collect home addresses, personal social media, family details or salaries, and we don't sell personal information.
